The Saskatchewan Party government appointed three administrators to oversee three publicly funded private Christian schools (Legacy Christian School, Grace Christian School and Regent Christian Academy) that employed individuals who were named as abusers by former students of the Legacy Christian Academy (LCA), formerly Christian Centre Academy.
At the time of the alleged abuses, the individuals worked at LCA. John Olubobokun set up and ran Grace Christian School after he left LCA. His school was assigned an administrator because he was charged with 12 counts of assault with a weapon.
He and his wife, Simba, are also defendants in the class-action lawsuit, involving allegations of verbal, sexual, emotional and physical abuse against children. John Olubobokun refused to co-operate with the appointed administrator and the government closed his school.
Now he and his wife are the directors of a publicly funded daycare and preschool named Grace Capstone Ministries, despite being ordered by the court not to work or volunteer in any capacity with anyone under the age of 18.
The government’s response to questions about the appropriateness of such an arrangement has been to stipulate that the Olubobokuns cannot have anything to do with the childcare centre. Really?
There is absolutely nothing reassuring about such a directive if you consider Olubobokun’s record: criminally charged with abusing students, being a defendant in a civil lawsuit alleging abuse against children and not co-operating with the government’s appointed administrator.
What in God’s name is the government thinking?
